Construction Scheduling and Manpower Loading

Timely project delivery is a high priority for all Grote Enterprises project teams. Our "Zero Bad Projects" philosophy is the culmination of our overall focus on schedule, encompassing project pre-planning, baseline scheduling, achievement of consensus on the plan, updating and detailed planning throughout the project, productivity reviews and problem-solving.

To begin, our commitment to "Zero Bad Projects" is based on many of the facets of activity based scheduling. For example, on each of our projects, we begin with a baseline schedule. The baseline schedule illustrates the planned sequencing, duration and logic of the project activities, and is loaded with the allotted manpower, to facilitate overall project planning and forecasting. The baseline schedule is updated on a regular basis (ie. monthly) throughout the project. The project manager and foreman are then responsible, on a weekly basis, to break the activities on the schedule into greater detail for a three-week look-ahead schedule. This three-week schedule is broken out into even further detail for the foreman’s weekly activity plan.

Our Manager of Construction Planning, Julie Glassmeyer, has extensive experience in Lean Construction. She has received training and implemented both basic and advanced Lean principles on multiple construction projects. She has facilitated, attended and documented numerous Reverse Phase Schedule meetings, created and utilized 6-week look-ahead schedules and weekly work plans. As part of Julie’s role at Grote Enterprises, she is available to support and assist any project team in the area of scheduling, productivity and planning. This division of Grote’s construction services contracts regularly to outside clients.

Technically, Grote Enterprises utilizes both SureTrak and Primavera P5 for project scheduling and resource allocation. We have the capability to perform schedule assistance on almost any project, whether it is in the pre-planning or construction stage.
